Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion or Ear Seeds: What Are They? | South Edmonton

Our acupuncturists also use traditional techniques. Here is what fire cupping, gua sha, moxibustion and ear seeds are.

Can I get cupping with my acupuncture?

Yes. You can book a follow-up acupuncture with fire cupping, or a stand-alone cupping session with an acupuncturist. Cupping may leave temporary marks that fade within several days.

Book: Follow Up Acupuncture + Fire Cupping (up to 75 mins) ($140) or Cupping Therapy by Acupuncturist ($60)

What is fire cupping?

Fire cupping is a traditional technique where heat is used briefly to create suction inside a glass cup before it's placed on the skin. It's done carefully by our acupuncturists and may help loosen tight muscles.

Book: Fire Cupping by Acupuncturist ($60) or Follow Up Acupuncture + Fire Cupping (up to 75 mins) ($140)

Do your acupuncturists offer gua sha?

Yes. Gua sha uses a smooth tool to scrape and release tight areas, and can be combined with follow-up acupuncture or booked for the neck and shoulders, back or scalp.

Book: Follow Up Acupuncture + Gua Sha (up to 75 mins) ($140) or Neck & Shoulder Tension Release Gua Sha (up to 30 mins) ($60)

What is moxibustion?

Moxibustion is a traditional warming technique using the herb mugwort near the skin. It can be added on to an acupuncture session.

Book: Add On Moxibustion ($35)

What are ear seeds?

Ear seeds are tiny seeds or beads placed on points of the ear with a small sticker, so you can gently press them between sessions. They're a simple add-on to acupuncture.

Book: Add On Ear Seed ($25)
